1. Grasp hackle stem with pliers. make one full wrap there at hackle tie in point.

2. Wrap hackle forward in evenly spaced spirals leaving gaps between wraps. This is called palmering.

3. Palmer hackle to eye of hook. Tie off with 3 or 4 wraps of thread and cut excess. Make 3 or 4 more thread wraps to secure. You are now ready to whip finish.
